Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy ships with a 14-chapter campaign that splits into a 1334 medieval run and a Minoan past that bleeds into the present. This page is the chapter-by-chapter beat sheet the walkthrough sketches at a higher level. Every chapter lists setting, key story beats, the collectible counts you should expect (Resonance Points, Charms, Blades, Artefacts), combat highlights, puzzle highlights, and whether the chapter features an Ariadne (Theseus) dual-timeline sequence. The official gameplay walkthrough sits at the top of the page; pair it with the bestiary if you keep dying on Captains.

The campaign totals, verified at launch, are 200 Resonance Points in the world (165 needed for Like a Warrior), 30 Charms (Superstitious), 37 Artefacts (Hoarder), 8 base Blades (9 with the Heritage Minoan Sword), and 36 Achievements. None of those numbers assume DLC, but the Heritage Pack adds the ninth blade and a pendant without shifting the rest of the totals. If a number on screen disagrees with this page, trust the on-screen count; the collectibles page documents the patches.

The dual-timeline sequences are where Sophia’s medieval run and Ariadne’s Minoan past collide. Chapters that contain those sequences are flagged below with a Dual-timeline marker. Treat them as the chapters where the body on screen is not Sophia; the verb language stays the same (parry, kick, grapple, sphere) but the rooms you re-enter in 1334 change shape based on what you did two thousand years ago. The Theseus page covers the lore side; puzzles covers the mechanical side.

Chapter 1 — Blood Ties

Setting: a small Venetian lagoon camp, three months before the carnival raid. Young Sophia trains with Faro on the sand while the Romani-style plunderers repair boats and argue about Lazare’s debts.

Key events: tutorial parry, first charm chest in the fisherman’s hut, the prologue is narrated to Amicia (only obvious on a second playthrough). The chapter ends with the camp being warned that the Venetian army is closing in.

Collectibles: roughly 5 Resonance Points, 2 Charms, 0 Blades, 1 Artefact (the camp ledger).

Combat highlights: the Ezra chase in the dunes teaches dodge timing against one enemy at a time. Captains and Petrified do not appear.

Puzzle highlights: a single sphere lock on the fisherman’s hut door introduces the light-split mechanic without committing to it.

Dual-timeline: no.

The chapter functions as a soft prologue. If you are skipping collectibles on a first run, this is the only chapter where you can leave charm chests without losing the collectibles route, because the prologue chests respawn inside the main campaign via the Heritage Pack.

Chapter 2 — Felons

Setting: the Venice carnival raid. Sophia, Leni, and a crew of plunderers rob a noble palazzo for a Minoan sphere locked in a wall vault. The Venetian army follows the crew back to the lagoon camp and burns it.

Key events: rooftop combat tutorial, sphere heist, the camp destruction cutscene, the Irene ambush beats (without the identity reveal yet). The Venetian army chases the crew onto a ship headed for Crete.

Collectibles: roughly 12 Resonance Points, 3 Charms, 0 Blades, 4 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: real parry timing against patrician guards; first kick off a ledge; first grappled archer. Captains are introduced here as the bulky sword-and-shield enemies. The arena lets you practice aerial kick and Echo’s Return dodges without Petrified pressure.

Puzzle highlights: the sphere vault inside the palazzo requires the light-split mode to open three coloured shutters in sequence. The sewers after the chase teach slide-under and tight-gap traversal.

Dual-timeline: no.

If you only want to read one chapter page twice, this is the one. The sphere you steal here is the same sphere Sophia carries for the rest of the campaign, and the Minoan light machines that respond to it are tied to the puzzles page from Chapter 5 onward.

Chapter 3 — Those Before Us

Setting: Sophia and Leni land on Minotaur Island and begin the climb to Alec’s last camp. Coastal cliffs, a half-collapsed Minoan stair, and the first long look at the inner labyrinth.

Key events: the first Petrified encounter, the first charm chest off the main path, the introduction of the lantern as a weapon. Sophia learns that the island answers the sphere with light and that her presence awakens something in the dark.

Collectibles: roughly 18 Resonance Points, 4 Charms, 1 Blade (the Cliffside Minoan Shortsword), 4 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: lantern-throw against clustered Petrified, sword parry against a corrupted captain, the first time you realise that parrying a red attack refunds your dodge cooldown.

Puzzle highlights: a single-room sphere pedestal on the cliff teaches aim-while-moving and prepares you for the more elaborate puzzles in puzzles.

Dual-timeline: no.

If the campaign ever feels slow, this is the chapter where the loop locks in: lantern + parry + sphere. The combat page has the exact timing windows.

Chapter 4 — From Hell It Rose

Setting: deeper into the cliff path, an underground chapel half-buried by Minoan rubble, and a long vertical climb toward the labyrinth’s outer ring.

Key events: a Petrified ambush through a chapel, the first charm density worth counting, a Vista that shows the labyrinth core for the first time, and a brief, ominous appearance by the Creature from the darkness.

Collectibles: roughly 22 Resonance Points, 3 Charms, 1 Blade (the Chapel Minoan Shortsword), 3 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: a multi-Petrified encounter inside the chapel teaches you to funnel enemies through doorways. A Captain and an archer appear together for the first time.

Puzzle highlights: the chapel’s stained-glass puzzle requires you to aim the sphere at three coloured panels and rotate a central prism. The solution is a precursor to the Labyrinth Core puzzles.

Dual-timeline: yes — a short vision of Ariadne losing a fight in an arena, ending with Minos’s silhouette. The vision does not change 1334 rooms yet; it is a setup for Chapters 9 onward.

Chapter 5 — What Lies Beneath

Setting: the labyrinth’s outer ring. Stone corridors with bronze doors, Minoan frescoes showing the Minotaur myth in painted form, and the first sustained look at the central arena.

Key events: a long puzzle gauntlet (four rooms), the first charm chest hidden behind a fresco panel, Sophia recognises the myth from her childhood convent visions, and the Creature stalks her for two minutes in a corridor chase.

Collectibles: roughly 24 Resonance Points, 4 Charms, 0 Blades (sphere is the verb here, not a blade), 5 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: Petrified swarms through narrow corridors. Light concentrate mode first appears, allowing you to burn through a Petrified blockade.

Puzzle highlights: the four-room gauntlet combines sphere aim, prism rotation, and timed light pulses. Puzzles has the step-by-step.

Dual-timeline: no — but a fresco on the wall of the second room shows a portrait of Ariadne that Sophia touches, foreshadowing Chapter 12.

This is where charm density starts to matter for the Superstitious achievement. If you are running a charm-light build, this is also the chapter where the tier-list tells you to drop everything offensive and stack the utility charms.

Chapter 6 — Death It Sowed

Setting: an underground necropolis beneath the labyrinth, lit by Minoan fire-bowls and lined with skeletal offerings.

Key events: a stealth segment through a chamber of waking Petrified, a charm chest hidden inside an offering urn, a long drop into a flooded corridor where Sophia first uses the sphere underwater, and the Creature’s longest appearance yet.

Collectibles: roughly 18 Resonance Points, 2 Charms, 1 Blade (the Necropolis Minoan Blade), 4 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: stealth is back as the primary verb in the urn chamber; the flooded corridor reintroduces sword parry under water restrictions (slower dodges, no kick).

Puzzle highlights: the underwater section requires prism rotation while submerged; light refracts differently through the water and changes the puzzle by a colour step.

Dual-timeline: no — but the fresco in the offering urn shows Ariadne with a sphere identical to Sophia’s.

Chapter 7 — Parallel Paths (prelude)

Setting: the labyrinth’s mid-ring, with two parallel corridors that converge at a Minoan gate. The path forks between a left route with charm density and a right route with combat density.

Key events: a charm chest on the left route (6 charms in one room), a Captain arena on the right route, and a gate that requires both routes to be cleared before it opens. The dual-timeline prologue to Chapter 8 plays as Sophia touches the gate.

Collectibles: roughly 20 Resonance Points, 6 Charms (left route), 1 Blade (right route, the Gate Minoan Shortsword), 3 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: right route is the Captain + archer + Petrified mix that defines mid-game combat. Left route is a charm gauntlet with light Petrified filler.

Puzzle highlights: the gate itself uses both routes’ collectibles to unlock, a soft tutorial for the collectible-as-key design that runs through Chapter 13.

Dual-timeline: yes — Sophia’s vision at the gate is the setup for Chapter 8.

Chapter 8 — Resonance

Setting: a long cutscene chapter. Sophia relives a childhood memory in the convent and then has a vision of Ariadne at the centre of the labyrinth. There is no playable combat.

Key events: the convent prologue is reframed (the tar injections are revealed as a diluted Macula sample); the Ariadne vision completes the setup for Chapter 11; the post-vision scene has Sophia choose to descend into the labyrinth core.

Collectibles: none. The chapter exists to reposition the player before the mid-game combat escalation in combat.

Combat highlights: none. Movement-only chapter.

Puzzle highlights: a single, very short prism-rotation at the end of the vision.

Dual-timeline: yes — the entire chapter is the dual-timeline prologue.

Do not skip collectibles because Chapter 8 has none. The chapter is the only story-only chapter in the campaign; everything around it is dense with charms and blades.

Chapter 9 — Night Has Come

Setting: the labyrinth’s deep ring, where the lantern’s light no longer reaches and the Creature becomes a persistent threat.

Key events: lantern chases, a chamber that floods and drains in cycles, a charm chest hidden under a collapsed mirror (Leni holds it open), the first arena combat with the Creature’s presence.

Collectibles: roughly 14 Resonance Points, 2 Charms, 1 Blade (the Deep Ring Minoan Blade), 3 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: the chapter’s middle section is a sequence where Sophia fights a Captain while the Creature patrols the perimeter. Lantern throws keep the Creature at bay; parries handle the Captain. Every walkthrough flags this as the chapter where the two combat verbs first intersect.

Puzzle highlights: a flooded-and-drained chamber requires you to solve a prism puzzle while the water rises and falls, timing light pulses to the drain cycle.

Dual-timeline: no.

This is the chapter where many players first fail to keep up with charm density. The collectibles page tracks the exact room numbers.

Chapter 10 — Parallel Paths (conclusion)

Setting: a chamber that mirrors Chapter 7’s gate, but inverted: the right route has charm density and the left route has combat density.

Key events: a charm chest on the right (4 charms), a Captain arena on the left, and the gate opens into the Temple of Light antechamber. The Creature attacks for the first time inside a closed room, requiring a light concentrate to drive it back.

Collectibles: roughly 16 Resonance Points, 4 Charms (right route), 0 Blades, 3 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: the Creature fight in the closed room introduces light concentrate as a panic button; burning the Creature’s heart charges Sophia’s sphere for a full minute.

Puzzle highlights: the gate’s collectible-as-key pattern repeats.

Dual-timeline: no.

Chapter 11 — Patera

Setting: the Temple of Light, a vertical cathedral with a bronze Minotaur statue at its centre. Patera is Greek for father.

Key events: Sophia enters the temple, the Ariadne vision takes over, and the player controls Ariadne fighting Minos in a combat arena. Minos kills Ariadne. Daedalus deactivates the temple’s defences in defiance. Asterion breaks free. Sophia wakes in 1334 to find the temple in darkness and the Creature inside it.

Collectibles: roughly 10 Resonance Points, 1 Charm, 1 Blade (the Temple Minoan Blade), 2 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: the Ariadne fight against Minos is the only combat sequence where you fight a named NPC with Theseus verbs. Minos uses unparryable combos and arena hazards. The post-vision fight against the Creature in the dark temple is the first no-lantern combat in the campaign.

Puzzle highlights: the dark temple requires prism rotation under low light, which the puzzles page covers in detail.

Dual-timeline: yes — the entire Ariadne sequence is the dual-timeline set piece the Theseus page is built around.

If you only read one chapter’s section in detail, read this one. The Minos fight, the Daedalus betrayal, and the Asterion reveal all land in the same chapter.

Chapter 12 — Fading Light

Setting: Sophia is along the central beam path toward the Creature’s heart. The labyrinth’s defences are down. Petrified and Creature both roam.

Key events: Sophia reaches the Creature’s body at the centre, the dual-timeline Ariadne vision completes (Ariadne’s last stand, the blood that bound Asterion to the labyrinth), and the light beam that Faro and Sophia activate is interrupted by Irene’s ambush.

Collectibles: roughly 12 Resonance Points, 2 Charms, 0 Blades, 3 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: the Irene fight. Irene is a hybrid of parry timing and arena hazard awareness, the toughest single enemy in the campaign. Faro is mortally wounded defending the beam. The Creature’s full appearance at the end is the closing shot.

Puzzle highlights: a single sphere lock on the central beam that requires light concentrate to hold open.

Dual-timeline: yes — the closing Ariadne vision.

Chapter 13 — As One

Setting: the central chamber, with the Minotaur statue’s head mounted on a pedestal.

Key events: Sophia fights the Minotaur’s shadow using the giant sphere, light concentrate, and grapples. Ariadne’s voice guides Sophia through the fight. The statue crumbles when Sophia pulls both sides of its head down with grapples. A pedestal with Ariadne closes the chapter.

Collectibles: roughly 8 Resonance Points, 1 Charm, 1 Blade (the Heritage Minoan Sword if you own the Heritage Pack; otherwise a final Minoan Shortsword), 2 Artefacts.

Combat highlights: the Minotaur’s shadow fight is light-and-grapples, not health bars. Blue patches appear on the body and additional heads spawn; keep the beam on them. Stand on the platforms beside the statue’s head and yank both sides down with grapples when Ariadne tells you to run.

Puzzle highlights: the sphere aim against the blue heart is a puzzle that runs concurrently with the fight.

Dual-timeline: yes — Ariadne’s voice is the dual-timeline presence for the entire chapter.

Chapter 14 — What Remains (Epilogue)

Setting: a beach on the south side of the island, after the labyrinth collapse. Sophia and Leni make camp. The epilogue is narrated.

Key events: Sophia leaves the island with answers, grief, and the person she will be when Requiem catches up to her. The post-credits scene reveals she has been telling the story to Amicia.

Collectibles: roughly 3 Resonance Points, 0 Charms, 0 Blades, 0 Artefacts. The chapter is the credits walk and a single dialogue scene.

Combat highlights: none.

Puzzle highlights: none.

Dual-timeline: no — the chapter is 1334 only.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How many chapters does Resonance have?

Fourteen. Thirteen numbered chapters plus the Chapter 14 epilogue, What Remains. Chapter 8, titled Resonance, is a story-only chapter with no collectibles.

Which chapters feature Ariadne (Theseus) dual-timeline sequences?

Chapter 4 has a short vision. Chapter 7 has a prelude. Chapter 8 is the full dual-timeline chapter. Chapter 11, Patera, is the set piece. Chapter 12 closes the Ariadne arc. Chapter 13 keeps Ariadne's voice through the final fight. Seven chapters total contain a dual-timeline element.

What is the total Resonance Points count?

Two hundred in the world. The Like a Warrior achievement requires one hundred and sixty-five. The remainder is optional overage for the achievement buffer.

How many Charms are in the game?

Thirty in the base game. The Superstitious achievement unlocks at the full set. No DLC adds charms; the Heritage Pack adds a pendant instead.

How many Blades are there and where is the ninth?

Eight base blades plus the Heritage Minoan Sword from the Heritage Pack, for nine total. The base eight are picked up across Chapters 3, 4, 6, 7, 9, 11, and 13. The Heritage Minoan Sword is the Chapter 13 pickup if you own the DLC.

Are there any chapters without collectibles?

Chapter 8, Resonance, has no collectibles by design. It is the story-only pivot between the mid-game combat escalation and the Temple of Light.

Which chapter has the most Charms?

Chapter 7, Parallel Paths prelude, with six charms on the left route. Chapter 10's right route has four. Chapters 5 and 3 each have four. If you are hunting Superstitious, Chapter 7 is the highest-density single room.

Which chapter is the hardest on a first playthrough?

Chapter 9, Night Has Come, is the chapter most walkthroughs flag as the first major difficulty spike because the Creature patrols the same arena as a Captain. Chapter 11, Patera, is harder mechanically because the Ariadne/Minos fight expects Theseus verbs you only just learned.

How many achievements are there?

Thirty-six. They map onto the chapter list roughly one per chapter plus chapter-specific challenge achievements, plus the story-only Chapter 8 entry.

Where is the Heritage Minoan Sword?

Chapter 13 if you own the Heritage Pack. Without the DLC, Chapter 13's pickup is the standard final Minoan Shortsword.
