Heritage Pack — Minoan Sword and Alec's Pendant

What is the Heritage Pack?

The Heritage Pack is the preorder bonus DLC for Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy. It is a cosmetic-and-gear DLC with no new chapter, no new story content, and no gameplay mode. It is offered free of charge to anyone who preorders the base game before launch, and it is sold separately for buyers who skip the preorder window. Its Steam AppID is 3837640 and its storefront tag is “Resonance A Plague Tale Legacy - Heritage Pack.” The Steam DLC listing, the Epic Games Store DLC listing, and the PlayStation Store DLC listing all carry the same three-item description: Minoan Sword, Alec’s Pendant, and an exclusive digital Artbook.

If you are deciding whether the pack is worth claiming at preorder, the answer is straightforward: the Minoan Sword is a strong blade option for the early-to-mid game, Alec’s Pendant is a passive charm-stat booster that scales with your charm level, and the Artbook is a 30-plus page PDF that covers concept art, character design, and the Minoan past environments. There is no other way to obtain any of the three items in the base game.

For the full DLC walkthrough and to check whether the gear is worth slotting over the standard blade list, see the blades guide. For the pendant’s charm-stat effect, see charms.

What the Heritage Pack adds

The DLC is a bundle of three discrete items. None of them changes the story, the chapter list, the trophy list, or the New Game Plus flow.

The pendant is the strongest of the three items for a first playthrough because it passively scales with whatever charm loadout you build. The Minoan Sword is the strongest of the three for a New Game Plus run where you want a single blade to clear large groups. The Artbook is a separate, optional extra that does not interact with gameplay.

Minoan Sword — kit and stun windows

The Minoan Sword is the ninth blade in Sophia’s weapon list. It uses the same light-attack / heavy-attack / parry verbs as every other blade, but it adds a stack counter that triggers on every third successful light hit. The stack counter unlocks a heavy follow-up that deals bonus posture damage and stuns any non-boss humanoid enemy that is not currently blocking.

The stun window is short. On Storyteller and Explorer difficulty it is wide enough that the third-hit follow-up lands reliably against an unaware soldier or a Brute that has not yet shifted into rage mode. On the harder presets the window shrinks; if you stagger too early or if the enemy is mid-block, the bonus hit bounces off and the stack counter resets on the next swing rather than carrying over.

The blade’s strongest use is against the Petrified Soldier variants that appear in Chapters 9 and 11. Those enemies have a high posture pool but a small stun threshold; chaining three light attacks into the bonus hit is one of the fastest ways to break their guard without spending a Focus charge. Against the chapter bosses the bonus hit contributes posture damage but does not trigger the stun animation, so treat it as a chip-damage option there rather than a setup for a parry.

If you skip the Heritage Pack, the closest base-game alternative is the Xiphos (Chapter 14 unlock) for parry-focused builds, or the Greek Sword (Chapter 6 unlock) for run-and-gun. Neither blade carries the third-hit stun, so the Minoan Sword keeps a niche even after the standard blade list is unlocked.

Alec’s Pendant — charm-stat booster

Alec’s Pendant is an amulet. It occupies the same accessory slot as the in-game Amulet items you find in the chapter loot list, but it does not roll a random stat. Instead, while it is equipped it boosts the stats of every equipped Charm by one tier. A Common-tier Charm becomes Uncommon-tier, Uncommon becomes Rare, and Rare becomes Heroic. Heroic-tier Charms cap at Heroic.

For a fresh save on a non-completionist run, this is a significant early-game buff. The Common-tier Charms you pick up in Chapters 1 through 3 perform at Uncommon-tier values the moment you slot the pendant. For a completionist run, the pendant lets you skip the charm-upgrade grind on your off-spec charms and put all your upgrade tokens into the one or two charms that match your playstyle.

The pendant does not stack with itself. Equipping two pendants is not possible because the accessory slot is single-slot. The pendant does not affect Blade stats. The pendant is the only charm-tier booster in the game; there is no equivalent item in the base-game loot pool.

The pendant is also a story item. The pendant’s in-game description ties it to Sophia’s father Alec, the bandit leader who raided the convent in the opening prologue. Wearing the pendant is therefore both a gameplay choice (charm-stat buff) and a narrative choice (carrying Sophia’s father’s last gift into the rest of the campaign).

The digital Artbook

The Heritage Pack Artbook is a 30-plus-page PDF that Focus Entertainment ships as part of the DLC. It is the only artbook available for Resonance at launch; the standard edition does not include it. The PDF is delivered through the same redemption flow as the Minoan Sword and the pendant — the Steam, Epic, or PlayStation DLC entitlement unlocks the PDF in the platform’s bonus-content folder after the first launch.

The artbook covers concept art, character design sheets, the Minoan past environments, the 1334 island locations, the dual-timeline storyboards, the arena fight choreography, and the Minotaur statue design. It is the cleanest single-piece reference for the game’s art direction and is useful for anyone planning cosplay, fan art, or a deep lore video.

The artbook is optional. Skipping it does not change anything in the campaign. The Steam page lists it last in the bundle description, after the two gameplay items.

How to claim the Heritage Pack

The DLC is a preorder bonus on every storefront. The standard flow is:

  1. Preorder Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy on Steam, Epic, or PlayStation before launch (August 27, 2026).
  2. The Heritage Pack entitlement appears in your library as a separate DLC entry (Steam AppID 3837640 on Steam).
  3. After the first launch of the base game, the Minoan Sword appears in Sophia’s weapon list under the blade slot, Alec’s Pendant appears in the accessory slot, and the Artbook PDF is delivered to the platform’s bonus-content folder.

If you buy the base game after launch without preordering, the Heritage Pack is sold as a separate DLC purchase. On Steam the standalone price mirrors the regional base-game price minus the standard preorder discount; on Epic and PlayStation the price varies by region. There is no in-game way to earn the Minoan Sword or the pendant through normal play — they are DLC-gated.

If you own the Heritage Pack and the items do not appear after the first launch, verify the DLC entitlement is checked in your platform client (Steam → Manage → DLC; PlayStation → Library → DLC; Epic → Manage Add-ons). A client restart is sometimes required after toggling the entitlement.

Is the Heritage Pack worth it?

Yes for first-time players who plan a single playthrough. The pendant is the single strongest early-game accessory, the Minoan Sword gives you a working option for Chapters 5 through 8 where the standard blade list is still incomplete, and the Artbook is a free extra. The DLC is bundled with the preorder at no extra cost on every storefront, so the only reason to skip it is if you do not preorder the base game at all.

For players who buy post-launch and only want the strongest single piece, buy the DLC for Alec’s Pendant. The pendant’s charm-tier boost is the cleanest way to skip the early-game charm grind and the value is reproducible across New Game Plus saves. The Minoan Sword is strong but is replaceable once the Xiphos is unlocked in Chapter 14. The Artbook is worth the bundled price only if you collect game art.

The DLC does not change the trophy list. All 37 trophies in the base game remain achievable without the DLC, and there are no DLC-exclusive trophies. See the achievements guide for the full list.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Is the Heritage Pack free with the preorder?

Yes. On Steam, Epic, and PlayStation, preordering Resonance before August 27, 2026 grants the Heritage Pack entitlement at no extra cost. The pack is also sold as a separate DLC purchase after launch for buyers who skip the preorder window.

Does the Minoan Sword replace a base-game blade?

The Minoan Sword occupies Sophia's slot-9 blade slot and is added on top of the eight base-game blades. It uses the same parry and heavy-attack verbs but adds a third-hit stun follow-up that does not appear on any base-game blade.

What does Alec's Pendant actually boost?

Alec's Pendant boosts the tier of every equipped Charm by one step while it is in the accessory slot: Common becomes Uncommon, Uncommon becomes Rare, Rare becomes Heroic. Heroic Charms stay at Heroic. It does not affect blade stats and cannot be stacked.

Are there Heritage Pack-exclusive trophies?

No. All 37 trophies in the base game remain achievable without the DLC, and there are no DLC-exclusive trophies. The Heritage Pack adds gear and the artbook only.

Can I get the Minoan Sword or the pendant without the DLC?

No. Both items are DLC-gated and cannot be earned through normal play, chapter loot, or New Game Plus. The only way to obtain them is to own the Heritage Pack entitlement on the platform you play on.
