Faro in Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

Alec's lieutenant turned captain: tutor, accuser, and the ally who holds the beam.

Faro

This page spoils Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy from the Venice raid through the labyrinth. If you have not finished the campaign, read the first section, then go back to the walkthrough. After Night Has Come the rest of this guide is meant to be useful, not coy.

Faro captains the plunderer crew that raised Sophia. He is not her father. Alec was. Faro served as Alec’s lieutenant on the earlier Crete expedition, then took the lagoon camp once that voyage paid the island’s price. He honours a promise to keep Sophia alive. He also parks her on a side gate, keeps the book, and leads the carnival job that burns the den. The named-cast index sits on companions. The traitor is Irene, his own lieutenant.

You cannot drop a friend into Faro. Resonance is single-player. He is an AI captain: cabin talk, a sword tutor, a boss, and later an ally who dies holding a light. Asobo did not generate him. He is a written mistake that still loves the crew.

Before the island

Alec pulls child Sophia from the convent. Faro is already at his side. Official marketing sets the game fifteen years before A Plague Tale: Requiem. Wikipedia also places the story in 1334, fifteen years before Innocence. Both clocks describe the same young captain: a plunderer who inherits a crew he did not found.

Chapter 1, Blood Ties, is his classroom. After the convent prologue he trains Sophia on the ship and in the lagoon pit. Sword. Parry. The first real combat verbs a Plague Tale lead has ever been allowed to keep. Valerio is the named pit opponent. Faro is why she is allowed to swing at all.

Leni already argues that Sophia should lead instead of him. That argument is the adult campaign in miniature. Faro is competent, conservative, and tired of being measured against a missing man. Sophia is tired of being someone else’s key.

The Heritage Pack is optional DLC: Minoan Sword / Hero’s Blade, Alec’s Pendant, and an in-game artbook. Alec’s pendant is family weight named for Sophia’s father, not a Faro relic. You do not need it to understand the promise.

Venice and the first steel

Chapter 2, Felons, is his raid. He plans the carnival job that is supposed to steal the Minoan sphere, the key to Minotaur Island. Irene tips the Venetian army. Ezra is hit. The den burns. Faro reads the wreckage as Sophia’s betrayal.

That is why you fight him after the hideout burns. The walkthrough flags the Venice-aftermath duel: upward unblockable thrusts into a horizontal slash and an overhead diagonal, a yellow lunging stab that ends in a kick, a dagger in the off-hand as a yellow finisher on a defensive posture. Kick the guard. Parry the yellow. Do not wait for a cutscene to finish him.

He is wrong about the traitor. He is not wrong that the sphere just cost them a home. The factions page is the crew map: plunderers, Venetians, the Order in the convent. Faro captains the first of those until the fire.

Night Has Come, then the beam

On Crete the wound opens again. Chapter 9, Night Has Come, is the second Faro melee the walkthrough warns about. It sits after a hard beat involving Leni. Lanterns. A Creature chase. Then steel. Tools borrowed from Theseus and ordinary parries both matter. The boss fights page is the named-encounter playbook. This page only needs you to remember that Faro is still protecting a version of Sophia that no longer exists.

After that fight the story does not throw him away. Later on the island he works with Sophia to aim Daedalus’s ancient light machines at the centre of the labyrinth. That alliance is the point of his arc: the man who accused her of burning the camp is the man who holds the beam while she finishes the circuit.

Irene ambushes them inside the labyrinth once those machines are live. Faro is mortally wounded in the attack. He spends his last breath keeping the beam pointed at the centre so Sophia can keep moving. He is not the traitor. He is the ally who dies holding the line.

The full beat sheet, including Asterion and the Amicia sting after the credits, lives on ending explained. Mechanical routing for Irene’s three-phase duel sits on boss fights.

What he is not

He is not Alec. He is not Theseus. He is not a second playable body. Dual-timeline sequences belong to Ariadne wearing a mythic mask; Faro never walks the Minoan arena. He dies in 1334, in a machine built for a curse that will later sit on Hugo de Rune.

Play first. Then companions for the rest of the named crew, Irene for the leak, and ending explained after What Remains. If you are still in Chapter 2, stay on the walkthrough and combat pages and treat the hideout duel as a parry exam, not a lore dump.

Faro is why Resonance can afford a mid-game accusation without turning the island into a mystery box. The camp needed a captain. Sophia needed someone who would still hold the light after he was wrong.
