Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Best Loadout and Weapon Combos
When to swap blades, which charms to stack, and what alchemy pairs with every fight type.
Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy does not lock you into one loadout. Every blade has a situational perk, every charm type stacks to proc probability, and alchemy consumables solve specific combat problems better than raw swordplay. This page is the pairing guide: which blade goes with which charm set, which alchemy item solves which enemy type, and the three loadout presets that cover 90 percent of encounters on Minotaur Island.
The three loadout presets
Group Fight Preset — Falchion, Arm Bands, Beads, 6 Solar-Pitch Jars. Falchion’s Momentum Strike triggers after a Critical Strike; group fights generate Criticals faster than solo encounters. Arm Bands widen the parry window against multi-hit combos common in group settings. Solar-Pitch blinds archers and staggered enemies before you close the gap.
Boss and Brute Preset — Kopis or Khopesh depending on stagger preference, Bracelets, Trinkets, 3 Umbra-Smoke. Kopis’s Stagger Blow punishes the long recovery windows that Brute-type enemies leave after a missed red attack. Bracelets boost Critical Strike damage which matters against high-HP targets. Trinkets give a second chance if you mistime one parry.
Pursuit and Stealth Preset — Sica, Seals, Trinkets, 3 Umbra-Smoke. Sica’s Focus Rush refills the Focus Gauge on kills, which matters in the pursuit sections of Chapters 6, 9, and 12 where enemy density is high but stagger is less relevant. Seals increase throwable drops which extends Umbra-Smoke supply in long sequences.
Blade selection logic
Blades are not upgrades — they are situational tools. The game gives you all 8 by Chapter 10, and each perk is designed for a specific room type.
| Blade | Perk | Best used in |
|---|---|---|
| Rusty Sword | None | Chapter 1 only |
| Falchion | Momentum Strike — bonus damage after Critical Strike | Group fights, open arenas |
| Kopis | Stagger Blow — powerful blow on last combo hit | Bosses, Brute enemies |
| Greek Sword | Spinning Slash — sweeping spin on Critical Strike | Group fights with 3+ enemies |
| Sica | Focus Rush — Focus Gauge refill on kill | Pursuit sections, high-density combat |
| Khopesh | Deep Bleed — damage over time on last combo hit | Solo enemies, attrition fights |
| Broken Spear | Sprint Assault — pierce after Sprint Attack | Shield enemies, tight corridors |
| Xiphos | Parry Break — more stun damage while parrying | Parry-focused builds |
The rule: Switch to the blade whose perk matches the room you are about to enter. Do not marry the Falchion. The Falchion is exceptional in Venice’s open alleys and the Chapter 2 arsenal fight; it is less useful in the narrow Chapter 9 corridors where the Broken Spear’s pierce matters.
Charm stacking logic
Charms auto-equip and stack by type. Five Beads give a higher proc chance than one Bead. The goal is one complete set of each type by the end of the game, but the priority order matters in the early and mid chapters.
Early game (Chapters 1–4): Arm Bands and Beads. Arm Bands make the parry window more forgiving before you have learned yellow attack timing. Beads suppress the archers that make Chapter 2’s Venice rooftops dangerous.
Mid game (Chapters 5–8): Add Bracelets and Seals. Bracelets boost Critical Strike damage as enemy HP scales up. Seals extend throwable supply in the long puzzle-combat sequences of Chapter 5 and the Theseus arena sections.
Late game (Chapters 9–13): Trinkets and Pierced Coins. Trinkets are the safety net against the higher-damage enemies in the final chapters. Pierced Coins preserve Focus Gauge for the multi-enemy Focus Attack bursts that close difficult rooms.
Priority summary: Arm Bands > Beads > Bracelets > Seals > Trinkets > Pierced Coins for story mode. Swap Trinkets and Pierced Coins higher if you are on Hard difficulty.
Alchemy pairing by enemy type
Solar-Pitch Jars are the answer for groups of 3 or more enemies. Umbra-Smoke is the answer for archer corridors and pursuit sections. Lumen-Cores are for puzzles only.
Against archers: Throw a Solar-Pitch at their feet. The 4-second blind window closes the gap safely. Alternatively, use Umbra-Smoke at a chokepoint and stand inside it — enemies cannot lock on, but you retain offensive output.
Against Brutes: Do not waste Solar-Pitch. Use Umbra-Smoke to break lock-on, then circle behind for back Critical Strikes. If you have Kopis equipped, use the Stagger Blow on the Brute’s missed red attack recovery.
Against shield enemies: Broken Spear’s Sprint Assault pierces shields after a Sprint Attack. Alternatively, use Bullbreaker Kick to knock the shield down, then follow with a charged Critical Strike.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
Should I stick with one blade the whole game?
No. Each blade has a situational perk. Switch to the blade whose perk matches the room type — Falchion for groups, Kopis for bosses, Sica for pursuits.
What is the best charm set early game?
Arm Bands and Beads in Chapters 1–4. Arm Bands make parrying more forgiving before you learn attack timing. Beads suppress archers in Venice.
When should I use Umbra-Smoke versus Solar-Pitch?
Solar-Pitch for groups of 3 or more enemies. Umbra-Smoke for archer corridors and pursuit sections where you need to reposition or break lock-on.
Does the Heritage Pack sword change the loadout?
The Minoan Sword has Momentum Strike, same as the Falchion. It does not add a new perk — it is a cosmetic alternative, not a meta change.
What loadout for the Minotaur statue fight?
Kopis or Xiphos for stagger focus. Full Arm Bands and Beads. 3 Solar-Pitch Jars for the adds that spawn during the phase transitions.
